According to Herodotus “immortal souls”, and metempsychosis, are first recorded in Egypt.

Our highest non-structural and thus potentially imperishable soul, the phantom eye/ eye of shiva/ eye of Horus or Atman of the Brahmas (the Hindus and Egyptians have same linguistic root for the highest of the seven Egyptian souls) .

Likewise the 7 main chakras of the Brahmins, I claim, are identical (one to one correspondence with the 7 Egyptian souls) and the Mehen serpent, patron of Senet = Kundalini as it rises

from the base-chakra or lowest soul to finest levels. A ladder was sometimes placed in

important tombs that the soul could use to ascend to the stars. The steps of Senet are also used for our developmental ascension, both in this life and after. The 7 grades of Egyptian Crata Repoa initiatory system also corresponds with these souls ..... again , this is my opinion

The Senet (proto-QBL)path zig zags across the three registers of ten steps very like the lightening flash on the much later Q(a)B(a)L-istic Tree. We return in the Senet to proto-Tifareth = the House of Life or Ankh square.

The Djed carried by Ptah in Enochian Chess also represents the tree or ladder (tree and staff were sometimes used interchangeably).
